Nakamal At Home is one of the oldest kava brands found in America(2002). Not only is their product high quality, its prices are comparable to or more affordable than many other kavas of the same caliber. Their Stone variety is by far my favorite out of the one’s I’ve tried. In fact, I rarely try another variety as this one hits so good time and again. It’s quickly become my goto for traditionally prepared kava.
As with most kava kava varieties I use, I use 3-4 tablespoons and double wash it with Oat or Almond milk. Both washes are needed for 6-8 minutes. I use a strainer bag from Kavafied but have found the Stone grind to be a bit more “fine” or less consistent of a grind as it has become common to get more root particles when straining this variety. With that being said, it’s never been enough root to give me nausea so I’m okay with this.
While it may not be as balanced as Kalm With Kava’s Borongoru Vanatau blend, where it hits, it hits hard. I would typically recommend this blend in the afternoons, evenings and weekends when you want to chill on the couch with friends do not have a lot of active plans. While I’ve certainly worked after taking a shell or two of this variety, it may not be the case for others. This kava allows me to quickly relax my thoughts and body. Typically, I find this to be a good opportunity for relaxing with my family or if I am stressed about something and need to focus on getting something done for work. It doesn’t make me antisocial or sleepy but it is heavy.
Like I mentioned above, I love this variety. The taste is stronger with more of a pepper type taste. The oat milk definitely helps even it out but it may be less than desired for some users. If you drink kava on a regular basis and have not given Nakamal At Home a chance in your rotation yet, I strongly urge you to add them to your next order. Their shipping is fast and prices are competitive. I don’t think you would regret this variety at all.
